My editor has told me that Biblical Fiction novels are on the wane. No more contracts for them. It is affecting a lot of authors. I feel fortunate then that I slipped in under the wire with 5 of them. The right manuscripts at the right time. So now it seems that those who enjoy reading Biblical history must then be content with the books that are already out there. Chick Lit came and went, and it would seem that some editors have run the gamut on western and Amish romances. According to my sources, historical fiction is still open, and romantic mysteries. I suppose we authors need to be flexible in our writing, but sometimes it is hard to “jump shift” to a new category. I had a Biblical story in mind but now should I make it contemporary? Let’s see, take her out of Jerusalem and put her in Chicago…ah the mind is turning again…I see a light at the end of the tunnel?
Please continue to write what I call your Historical Biblical Fiction. I have read two of your novels so far. MARY & Journey to the Well. I have to make sure I start them when I have an empty weekend as I cannot put them down…I read a bit slower when a book is well written as my imagination takes time to fully illustrate the scene. I love that your books are sold in theology and rich with manners and customs of new testament life. RUTH is next! Thank you for honoring Christ in your work. Let Him keep guiding your pen…Ok time to add another 5 star review on Goodreads and Amazon for Mary!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE continue doing what you do! I jave just discovered you! There are so very few christian authors who are staying in His word! But u seem like a true author. People need u! I will order some of your books right now! O want to live those biblical years! Feel free to email me

Traditionally, the books that sell are the ones that catch the publishers’ eyes, and which they promote. Some genres are overpromoted, and the bandwagon people might tire of those, but others of us like the same types of things from youth to senior citizenship. Like my other hobbies, scrapbooking and decorative painting, there was a time when each was the hot hobby, but there’s plenty of us who still do them, though their zenith may have passed.
Nontraditional publishing has had a great deal of success in the last few years. While a traditional publisher does a GREAT deal for its client authors, the internet may, long-term, better help writers and their readership connect.
I agree, I just found you too, and I want more! More Biblical literature, and I like older books as well as newer ones (at least, their age is irrelevant to my liking) and I’m less likely to read a contemporary or Amish novel.
