I recently heard from an editor who was concerned that there were other books on my website besides Biblical Fiction. She was concerned that I was not sticking to my brand of fiction. Biblical.  I know there are lots of authors out there who have a main character and that is their brand, like “The cat who…” or a detective, or mystery series.  Some write exclusively Science Fiction, or Romance.  Jan Karon hit the jackpot with the Mitford serries and a lovable Episcopal priest and his adventures.  Biblical Fiction comes and goes, perhaps like the real estate market.  It’s up and down. Why not turn to something else?  One Non BF book is based on a true story about getting our MIAs and POWs out of North Vietnam and Laos.  Another book is set in a mountain house I used to own in Big Bear.  Another story is based on a fire we survived when we lived in Northern California. To me it’s fun to vary the project. With a friend we even attempted and completed an Easter Cantata.  Unusual, since I don’t read or write music. Fortunately the Lord provided a friend who is a music major.  There are stories all around us to write about.  Not all can be Biblical Fiction.  As I told my agent, “I’ll write BF as long as an editor wants to publish it.”  In the meantime, I have two BF manuscripts to work on and another  project called “Kritters in the Kitchen, and Places in the Heart”, a tongue in cheek series of animal stories that I wrote as a single mom raising three children.  It keeps me at my computer!
