This year I am flying to Florida to spend Thanksgiving with my daughter and son-in-love, Joey. Joey is a gourmet cook so I am looking forward to a great dinner!

This time I am traveling with my puppy, Maya, who is almost 10 months old. I have never had a small dog to travel with before so it will be a new experience. I had a dog carrier loaned to me by a friend, but it had no wheels on it and since Maya is up to 14 pounds now, I didn’t relish carrying her through the airport! I could take her out and let her walk on a leash, but she is shy of crowds and airports are busy with people hurrying here and there. I went on line to find something that had wheels that could still go under the seat, and found a carrier with removable wheels! You just unscrew them, put them in a side pocket of the carrier and slide it under the seat. When the plane lands, I can carry Maya off the plane, and then stop and put the wheels on again to hustle to my next gate. Most airports now have a “doggie depot” where you can take your pet for “necessaries.” I’ll have to check on my connecting airport and see what they have. I’ve been given all sorts of tips on what to do: Don’t feed your dog or given them a lot of water before traveling, keep them in the carrier, if necessary, have some Benadryl on hand from your vet. She’s not fond of riding in a car so I’m apprehensive about taking her on an airplane! We’ll see! I just didn’t want to leave her for a whole week, she’s a very dependent little dog and very affectionate. She follows me from room to room and when I sit on the couch or in my office, she wants to sit on my lap. I will go forth with prayer, and trust the Lord to see us both through a long trip!
