Well, it’s over. I cannot believe I actually talked myself into doing another garage sale! What was I thinking? I went through closets, drawers, cupboards and gathered all the items I could find that I could live without, borrowed tables from my son, spent a good deal of time arranging the tables, laying out the goods, pricing and putting an ad on Craig’s List. Whew. Took my dog and put up signs in the neighborhood. Two friends came to help Saturday morning and yawning, (I was awake at 3:30 am) we had a cup of coffee and finally raised the garage door at 7 am! People had been waiting outside from 6:15. Dedicated, that’s what they are. We had the rush and then it was very quiet. The sky looked a little ominous and I was praying the rain would wait until after the garage sale. The lull was extensive. I looked at my watch. It was 8:30 in the morning, a long day until 1:00 pm. We stood around and chatted with a few neighbors, who came to visit but not buy but that was nice too. By 10:00 it was not only quiet, it was very quiet. Then it began to rain. Good thing I had everything safely in the garage. One helper had a sore knee and finally had to leave and go home to prop her leg up. My other friend and I looked at each other, looked out at the quiet street and the rain and got the same idea. Put a sign on the garage door, closed it and packed up the stuff. One pile was designated for the consignment shop, other bags and boxes are going to the Salvation Army. It was a nice idea and I got rid of a lot of stuff, but I looked around and shook my head. I will NOT do this again!!!!
