My Christmas poem each year is usually more on the religious side, but this year as I contemplated what to write, I saw a little mouse in my mind’s eye, and “A Tiny Christmas” told the story of a mama mouse hoping to find food to feed her 5 little ones. The feedback on the poem was amazing with suggestions to turn it into a children’s book. Then I talked to an editor friend who had helped me publish a book years before. He also has a line of children’s books which he publishes under Mousegate Press. (How appropriate is that?) He loved the poem and agreed it would make a great children’s book. I’m working with the illustrator he suggested and am very excited! There are 14 illustrations and the gentleman I’m working with seems to understand what type of a little mouse and illustrations I’m thinking of. I’m waiting for his preliminary sketches. What a fun project to drop in my lap. You just never know what God has in mind! A little Christmas poem dashed off in an hour or so, turning into my very first children’s book! I will keep you all posted on my progress and hope you will be able to take a look at the finished project one day soon. At least it will be out before Christmas this year!
